It was an inspirational Sunday afternoon at the Wedding Academy, where we partnered up with industry experts from Rebecca Chan Wedding & Events, Garrison Bespoke, and Shangri-la to hold an event that shared ideas and experiences to help soon-to-be-wed couples marry the details!
Guests arrived at the stunning Shangri-La Hotel in Toronto and were greeted with a welcome cocktail from their in-house mixologist, followed by exclusive canapés from their new menu. The hallway was beautifully decorated by Rachel A. Clingen Wedding & Event Design and everyone enjoyed live music from Side One, makeup and touchups from Fancy Face and decadent desserts from Fine Cakes By Zehra and Monde du Chocolat. Photography and cinematography was provided by the wonderfully talented L’Atelier Lumiere, furniture provided by Luxe Rentals and signage provided by Paper and Poste.
First to talk was the ever so stylish Garrison, from Garrison Bespoke. His store was called "Canada's greatest bespoke and made to measure tailors" by Sharp Magazine and is the custom tailor for the athletes (Raptors, Maple Leafs), politicians, musicians (Drake) and TV shows (Suits, Hannibal). He mentioned a few trends such as the rising colour of navy blue, structured shoulders and fitted but not 'tight' pants. A definite favourite of the crowd was Garrison's specialty, giving the groom's suit a unique and personal touch by customizing the inside with what else, but the groom's favourite sports team!
Next was the senior wedding and events coordinator, Rachel from the Shangri La, sharing ideas on how to maximize your wedding weekend. Mentioned were a few great ideas on creating mini events such as welcome drinks or a brunch after the wedding, either in a different part of the venue or close to the venue so guests can easily locate the additional event. Another great point of discussion was viewing venues like the Shangri-la as more than just your wedding venue but also your wedding concierge - they've gone through a million weddings and can provide you with new ideas or solutions to any hiccups you run into.
Last but not least, senior stylist, Jennifer Dang from Ferre Sposa, provided great style tips on selecting the right wedding gowns and accessories to match. We know you'll want to know all the details so we're spilling the details in our next post!
